A little bit about Logos
What is a logo
The Oxford Dictionary defines a logo as, "A symbol or other small design adopted by an organization to identify its products, uniform, vehicles, etc."
Why is a logo Important?
A logo is important because, it is that identity that uniquely identifies you amid other businesses. It is one of the main things that makes your business memorable.
What type of logo do I need for my business/firm?
Well, there are different types of logos and trust me the number varies but I think Hilda Morones has done a lot on this subject in her blog. Check her article out:

I however classify them majorly under 3 Sub-themes.
-
Illustrative
-
Abstract Logos
-
Sandwich of both 1 and 2
one has to always consider the following while commissioning a logo for their company/Firm.
-
Breadth of a company's line of business and,
-
Its Future prospects.
The above mentioned ideas are some of the influential ones towards that regard.
