Is it end of the road for 72-year-old Raila Odinga?

Well a story published in Daily Monitor August 12, 2017 is a moving one. In away that, after toiling very hard for the topmost job in the country, Raila Odinga is only likely to bury his dream in his mind and simply move on. Nonetheless, he has given this shot his best though it may not have been much as seen at the tallying centers and election results, I personally think of him as a worthy opponent - rigging claims, notwithstanding.

He will definitely have his place in the history of Kenyan Politics except, not one he had envisioned himself into. Its hard not to feel downcast with feelings of being cheated and also missing what presumably seems like the last shot at this game. Its as painful as it gets but again that's part of the ramifications involved in the aftermath of the game. Fate seems to have steered his Presidential ambitions otherwise but then, Odinga remains as resolute as ever.

What may not be easily appreciated is that; him (Odinga) being a worthy opponent has put Kenyan ruling party on her toes to work hard and defend their position. This is often overlooked in multiparty democracy but I believe it is such an important contribution even though it may not receive limelight and rather remain in the shadows. It has always been said; a dream broken is worth a dream having-and I agree, the idea of anyone living with regrets of having failed to try won't be in Odinga's life. That is how it goes, two things are inevitable in any race. There's a group that will win and the other that will become a 'worthy competitor'. If the race is about moving the country forward, in my opinion, either way it works just fine. It is not of much importance as to who wins the race within a free and fair election than it is for the country to realize its ambitions and strategic plans.

When all is said and done, there's more to life than missing one's last shot. Maybe, just maybe somethings are simply not meant to be and we only exacerbate ourselves by trying to swim against the current. I am sure that the tenacity of Raila Odinga will stir someone up into their purpose, Ambition and Dream.
